چکیده
15 In this study, clinical isolates of Bordetella pertussis collected in Poland from 1960 to 16 2005 were analyzed by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) according to recommended 17 references. Among the 110 isolates from 1995-2005, 59 PFGE patterns were found, most of 18 which were different from those currently circulating in other EU countries for which data are 19 available. PFGE patterns of currently disseminating B. pertussis clones were found within 20 PFGE groups III and IV, as elsewhere in the EU, and in newly identified clusters A and C. Up 21 to 70%, 26%, and 4%, respectively, of the currently isolated strains in Poland harbored 22 ptxA1/prn1, ptxA1/prn2, ptxA1/prn3 allele combinations and most (82%) were found to be of 23 the Fim2 phenotype. Differences in the extent of heterogeneity estimated by PFGE typing in 24 B. pertussis populations circulating in Poland in comparison to other EU countries may be 25 Copyright © 2011, American Society for Microbiology and/or the Listed Authors/Institutions. Allelic variations between vaccine strains and circulating strains in pxtP of Bordetella pertussis in Iran
Introduction: Despite high level of vaccination against pertussis‚ whooping cough has re-emerged as a health threat, especially in infants. This could be related to expansion of Bordetella pertussis with novel alleles for virulence factors including the pertussis toxin promoter, ptxP3. Compared to ptxp1 strains‚ ptxp3 strains produce more pertussis toxin which results in immune supp...

متن کاملVirulence Factors Variation Among Bordetella Pertussis Isolates in Iran
Pertussis is still endemic and the recently resurgence of the disease caused by Bordetella pertussis has been shown in many countries. The polymorphism of the virulence genes of B. pertussis and lack of any information about the allelic variation between the Iranian isolates promotes us to analysis of the genes encoded virulence factors including ptxS1, prn, fim3 and cya to understand the diffe...
متن کاملStrain variation among Bordetella pertussis isolates in finland, where the whole-cell pertussis vaccine has been used for 50 years.
Pertussis is an infectious disease of the respiratory tract caused by Bordetella pertussis. Despite the introduction of mass vaccination against pertussis in Finland in 1952, pertussis has remained an endemic disease with regular epidemics. To monitor changes in the Finnish B. pertussis population, 101 isolates selected from 1991 to 2003 and 21 isolates selected from 1953 to 1982 were studied t...
متن کاملEvaluation of Pertussis Toxin Expression in B2 and THIJS Media
Whole-cell pertussis vaccine (wP) has been imperative and highly effective in preventing childhood deaths due to pertussis. Pertussis toxin is one of the virulence factors of Bordetella pertussis in all available pertussis vaccines. wP production in Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute is according to bioreactor culture of B. pertussis strains in B2 medium. The aim ...
